pROJECT

Project Description

Finding new mineral deposits is increasingly difficult as shallow resources become exhausted, necessitating deeper exploration. In this context, conceptual geological predictions for mineralization in greenfield exploration – through new ore models based on sophisticated deep exploration techniques and the analysis of large datasets – are becoming crucial.

The DEXPLORE initiative aims to address these challenges by integrating innovations from the Earth’s surface to depths of at least 600 meters, along with advanced visualization tools. This approach will facilitate the development of accurate new ore models for deep-seated Critical Raw Materials (CRM) and Strategic Raw Materials (SRM), while also raising public awareness.

DEXPLORE will propose mineral models for extensive geological terrains across Europe, including crystalline and metamorphic rocks, targeting CRM and SRM at depths of at least 600 meters. Key targets include Fluorite (Fluorspar – CRM), Copper (SRM), Nickel (SRM), Manganese (SRM and CRM), Natural Graphite (CRM), as well as Zinc (Zn), Lead (Pb), and Molybdenum (Mo).

MNLT’s Role in the project

In DEXPLORE Project MNLT is leading the LCA and Environmental Assessment, contributing to Risk, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), and Data Management and also contributing to the Dissemination, Exploitation, Communication, and Clustering.
