As Europe pushes to scale Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR), the role of Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) is moving to the center of the discussion as one of the most promising CDR pathways.
On 27 May 2026, the Workshop on BECCS organised by the C-SINK Project will bring together researchers, policymakers and practitioners in Stockholm, Sweden, and online, to explore how this pathway can contribute responsibly to the future European #CDR ecosystem.

The MNLT Innovations team will proudly contribute to Thematic Session 3 – “Social, technoeconomic and environmental assessment, and governance of BECCS”, with a presentation titled “Techno-economic assessment of CDR technologies: cost-effectiveness and deployment potential”. The presentation will highlight key insights from our work in the project’s techno-economic assessment of CDR pathways, focusing on how cost structures, deployment conditions, scalability and value-chain considerations shape the real-world potential of technologies such as BECCS.
💡 The workshop as a whole will create a valuable space for exchange on BECCS use cases, risks and uncertainties, assessment methodologies, governance frameworks and support mechanisms — all crucial elements in shaping a credible and effective European CDR market.
