Across Europe, the innovation conversation is evolving. The challenge is no longer only how to create more startups, but also how to help more promising companies become investment-ready, internationally competitive, and capable of scaling with real impact.

This week, we attended the insightful webinar “Greek Scale-ups: Advancing Greek Innovation Towards International Growth”, organised by Sydna Startups, which opened an important dialogue on how Greece can strengthen its scale-up ecosystem and better support innovation-driven companies on their path to international growth.

The discussion brought forward key themes, including internationalisation, strategic collaboration, and the transition from startup creation to scale-up growth. Together, these are the building blocks of an ecosystem that helps promising ideas mature into companies with real market presence and long-term value.

At the heart of this effort is ScaleUp GREECE, the national initiative launched by Innovation Greece, helping shape a stronger framework for strategic support, international competitiveness and growth pathways for Greek innovation-based companies. In a landscape where scaling often proves more difficult than starting, initiatives like this play an essential role in helping the ecosystem move forward with direction and ambition.

Dr. Iakovos Yakoumis, President of Innovation Greece, Founder & CEO of Monolithos Catalysts & Recycling Ltd. and Senior Advisor of MNLT Innovations PC, led the dialogue and reflected the importance of connecting research, entrepreneurship, industrial innovation and national strategy in building the next generation of Greek scale-ups.
