Over the past month, our colleague Ms. Nikoleta Kontogianni, Sustainability Researcher at MNLT Innovations, was kindly hosted by Frederick University in Nicosia, Cyprus, for her secondment within the framework of the CompSafeNano project

During her stay, Ms. Kontogianni worked closely with the FredU Antennas and Microwaves Laboratory team on the application of nanomaterials in additive manufacturing, Safe-by-Design approaches and sustainability assessments, gaining valuable hands-on experience while contributing to a truly interdisciplinary knowledge exchange.

Secondment highlights:
• Exploring 3D printing workflows for antennas and microwave/RF components using nanomaterial-based inks and substrates
• Contributing MNLT’s expertise in LCA, LCC and sustainability evaluation to CompSafeNano’s nanoinformatics tools and Safe-by-Design frameworks
• Identifying new opportunities for future collaborations at the interface of sustainability and advanced manufacturing

Beyond the technical work, her secondment was also about new perspectives and new connections — from collaborating in a different research environment to experiencing life and culture in Cyprus. That’s exactly the kind of exchange that makes European research stronger!

At MNLT Innovations, we are proud to actively contribute to CompSafeNano, an EU-funded MSCA-RISE project that advances nanoinformatics models and alternative testing approaches for safer nanomaterials innovation, while promoting knowledge sharing and staff exchange across Europe.

👏 Congratulations to Nikoleta on this inspiring journey — and here’s to many more experiences that turn mobility into knowledge, growth and impact!
